Chicago: 2004 Breast Cancer 3Day

The Top 5 Fruits & Vegetable that Fight Cancer Finished in a Blaze of Glory!

Once Again Many Porta Potties
We made it! Maple City Market's team, "The Top Five Fruits and Vegetables," successfully completed the Susan G. Komen 60 mile breast cancer walk. We survived the heat on Friday, tents with no air conditioning, thunderstorms, and the evacuation of our campsite.
We reached our goal of raising $15,000 for breast cancer research and treatment. Yeh!

What was different about Chicago?
• We could get up and walk each morning.
• We had the energy to party at night.
• We stopped along the way for espresso.
• We were older and in better shape – amazing
!

What was great about the walk?
• Hanging out with friends.
• Raising money for a cause that mattered to us.
• Training – if you haven’t hiked or biked the Kal-Haven Trail in Southwestern Michigan do so – it is great.
• Being physically up to the challenge.
• Being moved and inspired by all the people who struggled and persevered, by all the people walking in memory of someone they loved, and by our own commitment and resolve

Playing with Art Along the Way
We all agreed that we would do the walk again – just maybe not until 2006. Until the next time, we will keep you in our hearts. Love, Janis
